This unique and very special little pocket of Bristol is starting to live up to its potential. For so long an area with a slightly seedy reputation, Stokes Croft is now proving to be a favourite socialising location for many who live all across the city.
Bordering the northern edge of Bristol’s centre, it neighbours the energetic and edgy St Pauls and the Georgian terraces of Kingsdown. It is an extremely diverse area with a real melting pot of cultures. It has a very strong creative core and is home to the Jamaica Street Studios and the Cube Cinema which showcase local artists and musicians. The Canteen venture on the main thoroughfare epitomises the recent resurgence of the area and has been a revelation; a cafĂ© during the day then a drinking and music hub at night. It never seems to be empty!
Stokes Croft now has a real buzz and has some inspiring street art from all comers including the globally recognised Banksy. It is a vibrant, energised area where anything goes.
