Leigh Woods

AREA GUIDE

Only a short stroll across the bridge from Clifton but a world away in feel with a restful and slower pace. Some eye-catching houses sit discretely off the main road which leads to Ashton Court and the surrounding woods. A little-known fact is that Leigh Woods and the surrounding Avon Gorge are probably the richest site for Whitebeams in the world. These floral trees are unique to the area and come in endemic species which include its own ‘Leigh Woods whitebeam’. Nature lovers can also seek out bats, deer and owls among other local residents. For those looking for something more exhilarating, there are some great mountain bike and running routes mapped out through the trees.
