Brushing it’s borders with Cotham, Kingsdown is located within half a mile of the city centre and boasts many fine Georgian homes, a legacy you would expect from Bristol’s first Georgian suburb. This neighbourhood is built on a rise of 250 feet and is perched above the city centre, giving you some of the best views in the city. Unfortunately these elegant period homes were not always appreciated. In the 1960s after a hard fought battle some of these historic dwellings made way for a modern ‘redevelopment programme’ which now gives the area the eclectic range of property seen today. There are many attractive streets and squares which give the feel of a bygone era.
If you fancy a game of squash or badminton, check out Kingsdown Sports Centre. There is even a sauna and steam room for some post-game relaxation. Being so close to the city centre provides, among other things, great access to Bristol’s revitalised shopping hub – Cabot Circus.
