Hotwells takes its name from the hot springs which bubble up through the rocks of the Avon Gorge and once had a natural warm water spa rivalling its more famous neighbour over in Bath. Sitting at the foot of Clifton this area is steeped in history and is defined by the elegant panel glazed windows of Georgian architecture which sit alongside modern architecture on built on smaller infill sites. There are lots of popular old school pubs dotted around the neighbourhood including the acclaimed Grade II listed Pump House which was formerly the power plant for Bristol Harbour’s bridges.
