Bishopston is the home to the famous Gloucester Road one of the UK’s finest traditional high streets. Formally known as Horfield Road, this vibrant stretch is the heartbeat of the area where locals can purchase every conceivable household item from the abundance of independent retailers.
Bishopston is essentially a family-orientated area with many three-, four- and five- bedroom Victorian homes. Families love it here because there are lots of highly regarded primary schools (including own Bishop Road School) and local parks like nearby St Andrews and Redland Green. Gloucester Road is also home to some excellent coffee shops and eateries perfect for all who enjoy a bit of café culture. Sports fans are also catered for at Gloucestershire County Cricket Club from their base on Nevil Road. If you time your visit right you can even catch England playing here to a sell-out crowd in a one day international.
At elephant we are rather fortunate to have one of Bristol’s best neighbourhood bars right next door to our office – the Gallimaufry. Check out the selection of great local food and drink which are the perfect accompaniment to their weekly music nights. If after all this excitement you are won over by Bristol and want to buy a home here, pop next door to see if we can help!
