AREA GUIDE

The heart of Bristol originates from the medieval period but was heavily redesigned during the second world war with modernist post 1950’s architecture springing up in its wake. The result is a rambling mix of old and new at the heart of the city with utilitarian blocks sitting next to wonky timber beamed 17th century buildings. There is a buzz about Bristol and you can always find something open at all hours of the day and night among well-known venues like the Bristol Hippodrome, Colston Hall and the 2008 built Cabot Circus shopping centre. With independence at the core of Bristol’s heart, it is well worth a trip to stroll around the eclectic range of stalls found at St Nicks market.
